The Wiere Brothers were a vaudeville comedy team who appeared in films, television programs and live performances from the 1920s through the 1960s. The group was comprised of three brothers, Harry, Herbert and Sylvester Wiere. Some of the more popular films featuring the Wiere brothers, were Hands Across the Borderwith Roy Rogers (1944), Road to Rio with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby (1947) and Double Trouble with Elvis Presley (1967). In 1962, the Wiere Brothers made their way into television on their own series called “Oh, Those Bells!” which aired on CBS and contained slapstick comedy. The Wiere Brothers continued to perform up until the 1970s, however following Sylvester’s death in July of 1970, the remaining two brothers, Harry and Herbert, discontinued their act. The Wiere Brothers remain as one of the most successful comedy trios of the 1900s and have left a last impression in the worlds of comedy and broadcast entertainment.
