A Chance Classic for Jack Benny and Bob Hope
After some bad investments cost him over $200, spendthrift Jack assigns writers Mel Blanc and Robert Ball to create a script for a comedy record album he hopes to tape with fellow comedian Bob Hope. The comic legends (correctly) assume a Hope & Benny LP album would make them each a lot of money. After Bob agrees to the proposal, Jack goes over the script with secretary Maudie Prickett (as Miss Gordon), who notices Jack has taken all the funny lines. Of course, Bob plans to steal the jokes back. Jack's winning weekly formula works marvelously for his guest star, who might have considered a similar series. Hope and Benny are in top form, playing off their comic personas with hilarious off-the cuff expertise. This episode is a gem for the relatively underutilized duo.
