    • Trivia
Showcases the notorious arrogance of American tourists who visit France, but can't be bothered to buy a simple phrasebook before leaving, if only to learn how to say: "I am sorry, I do not speak French". Jack Benny's wife starts rudely addressing a French clerk in English---and expecting to be understood---without so much as offering an apology for her lack of French. She was about to speak the same words in English, only louder, when Jack stopped her. This is behind the notorious American Francophobia, so prevalent across the USA, even in 2021. Then they project, and claim the French are rude, without looking at the three fingers which are pointing their right back at them.
    • Quotes

Maurice Chevalier: I know that he's telling everybody that he's 39, you know, but how old is he, really?

Mary Livingstone: Well, if you don't tell Jack I told you, I think he's old as you are.

      Maurice Chevalier: I thought so.

Mary Livingstone: How old are you?

      Maurice Chevalier: 41
