The first criminal prosecution of non-commercial smuggling in recent years, started by a tip from a German maid who was offended by dinner-table criticism of Adolf Hitler in the home of Supreme Court Justice Edgar N. Lauer, was closed yesterday in Federal court. Mrs. Elma N. Lauer, the jurist's wife, was sent to prison for three months and was fined $2,500.
